If you are on this or any VO email subscriptions, you are probably in it for the long haul.

Or, maybe you are finding other things that take up more of your interest and time, and your curiosity is waning.

Maybe your efforts are not generating the rewards you want; for example: being paid regularly, getting an agent, getting an agent that gets you auditions, getting an agent that gets you work, being able to deliver on the first take. That makes what you love all the more challenging.

VOWOL has always made itself a portal for you to connect with those, either through special guests or through talking with other professionals who can share their experiences.

VOWOL is still around. After a few months of individual training sessions and bookings, we have found a way to prepare for some new year's resolutions, and not only expand the idea of being a portal for you, but fill a niche we think you'll find useful.

But in the meantime, enjoy your last month of the year, and celebrate the victories you have had personally and professionally. It's sometimes easy to forget, isn't it?

Hi! VOWOL is getting crafty. We are rebuilding the Voice Over Work Out Lounge.

What's this mean? Wait - was it broken? Burned down? Nope.

We've seen how the voice over industry has evolved even over the last few years, and we're tailoring it to your needs. There are many opportunities in the Los Angeles area to get training and network with people in the business - VOWOL encourages you to continue to go to those places regularly, learn as much as you can, and continue to grow your voice over craft. We are offering something to supplement that training.

Have an iPhone? Need to send .mp3 attachments? Yes you can.

VO recording studios have evolved from a professional recording studio you go to, to a $5000+ home studio, to a plug into your laptop recording, to your pocket. If you own an iPhone 3gs or iPhone 4, you can now use it to record your VO auditions.

But most iPhone apps can either send anything but an .mp3 (for example, .wav files are usually huge, and not the current standard mp3), or a link to a webpage to download.

And as convenient as it is to use the built-in recorder, it's hard to edit, let alone email even the shortest last minute auditions.

This one night class will show you how to use your iPhone to send an actual mp3 email attachment.

Here's what you'll need:

an iPhone

The "mail" app set up and working (you need to be able to send emails)

A working app store account (you'll need to know your password; which is what you use to buy and download apps)

A basic understanding of how the iPhone works

A few apps to download (no worries, you won't jailbreak the iPhone!) These apps will charge your apple account $15 total

There are hundreds of recording and uploading apps available to use the iphone to record audio. What is the step by step process, using what combination, to get this going?

We'll take you step by step from recording audio to emailing an mp3 as an attachment.

We'll show you other tricks that allow you to get the best audio recording you can; including editing, normalizing, and amplifying.

Of course this is no replacement for an audition in studio! But if you are in a pinch, that phone in your pocket can help you get more auditions for those few times you can't make it to a recording booth.

Congrats for all your success over the past few months. It's funny to think back to the beginning of the year, and see how much has changed, isn't it?

Something Special In The Vowol.

We are having a very special series at a Hollywood studio in the next few weeks to a month. This will be specifically for VO actors who have been looking to see what Casting Directors look for in their actors. We'll also get feedback from Casting Directors from our reads. Right now, we are building quite a powerful group of local working Casting Directors to guest direct, and setting and confirming dates - if you are interested, please email roy@vowol.com with the subject "CD SERIES."

Additionally, questions about networking and career advancement come up at our workouts. Mainly specific steps VO actors can take that are effective. There are many coaches I like to direct people to based on their specific needs; and now, we are going to have Braden Wright www.messengingcoach.com come by for an hour or so after a workout to give his Publicity experience and see how it applies to us.
